PhD Student
Saeid Ghasemi
Infrastructure & community resilience
Saeid leads interdisciplinary research on cascading failures and seismic resilience of interdependent infrastructure systems using NIST's IN-CORE platform. His work directly supported Salt Lake City's Fix the Bricks program, contributing to seismic retrofits. He has coauthored peer-reviewed journal articles and a forthcoming Springer book chapter, received competitive travel grants, and serves as President of UNL's EERI Student Chapter.
PhD Student
Pramodit Adhikari
Climate & multi-hazard resilience
Pramodit's doctoral research focuses on climate-driven risks to infrastructure systems and Al-enabled decision support for community resilience. He was selected for a competitive research internship at the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS), where he worked on wind-fire resilience of the built environment. His work reflects SiRIUS Lab's emphasis on applied, policy-relevant resilience research.
PhD Student
Mohammadali (Ali) Nasrabadi
Digital twins & structural monitoring
Ali develops data-driven, physics-informed methods for structural health monitoring and multi-sensor integration. His research advances digital twin frameworks that combine sensing data with computational models to support post-event infrastructure assessment and resilience-based decision-making.
Graduate Leadership
Student Research & Leadership
National engagement & impact
SiRIUS Lab PhD students regularly present at international conferences (e.g., WCEE, ICASP, IABMAS), receive competitive travel and research awards, and contribute to open-source resilience modeling platforms used by communities and agencies.

Former Undergraduate Researchers
Undergraduate Researcher
Geoffrey Sanderson
Architectural Engineering — Seismic resilience
Geoffrey conducted undergraduate research on data-driven seismic functionality assessment of buildings in the SiRIUS Lab. He presented his work at UNL Student Research Days (2025), earning an Outstanding Research Presentation Award, and was selected for the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship to conduct international research in Canada.
Undergraduate Research
UCARE & Competitive Awards
Funded undergraduate research
SiRIUS Lab undergraduate researchers have received UCARE research awards to support independent and team-based research projects focused on infrastructure resilience, sensing, and community risk modeling.
