The Smart Resilient Infrastructure and Urban Systems (SiRIUS) Lab at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln welcomed Dr. Sina Naeimi as a postdoctoral researcher in June 2026.
At SiRIUS, Dr. Naeimi focuses on infrastructure and public-health resilience under compounding hazards, supporting the lab’s funded research on how infrastructure and public-health systems recover when multiple hazards occur together. He works with Dr. Milad Roohi, Assistant Professor and Director of the SiRIUS Lab.
Dr. Naeimi earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware in 2023, specializing in civil infrastructure systems, community resilience, catastrophe risk modeling, and infrastructure recovery analysis. Before joining SiRIUS, he was a postdoctoral researcher and regional resilience modeler at the NHERI SimCenter at the University of California, Berkeley (2023–2025). His development of REWET, an open-source tool for modeling post-earthquake recovery of water infrastructure, was recognized with an Editor’s Choice Award from the ASCE Journal of Infrastructure Systems in 2024.
He also holds an M.S. in Civil Engineering (Earthquake Engineering) from K.N. Toosi University of Technology and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Guilan.
